Repitition & Alliteration

Repetition is when a word, phrase or structure is intentionally repeated for emphasis, emotion, or to build rhythm. Alliteration is the repetition of the same sound at the beginning of words that are close together. They are all about sound and rhythm.

These techniques make lyrics stick in your head – they’re super easy to remember and almost give verses a hypnotic quality. They can really emphasise a message or idea and control momentum within the verse.
